Android Model Number Lookup

Identify an Android phone, tablet or other catalogued Android device from the model identifier reported by the operating system.

Android devices often report an internal model code instead of the retail name people recognize. A Samsung Galaxy phone might report a code beginning with SM-; other manufacturers use identifiers such as CPH2581, 23127PN0CG or completely different schemes. LocationOf already needs these identifiers to recognise devices submitted by its Android app, so the same catalog can be useful as a public model-number lookup.

Tip: on most Android phones, look in Settings → About phone → Model or Model number. Menu names vary by manufacturer.

Model number vs marketing name

The model number identifies a hardware/software variant, while the marketing name is what appears in advertisements and shops. Several model identifiers can legitimately belong to one retail product because of region, carrier, radio or storage variants.

Where does the catalog come from?

LocationOf combines its historical device mappings with the supported-device catalog used by its Android compatibility workflow. The catalog is periodically regenerated, so newly listed model identifiers can become searchable without hand-writing a page for each code.

What can an Android model identifier tell you?

A successful match can tell you which marketing name LocationOf associates with the identifier and link you to the corresponding GPS compatibility page. It does not prove that every unit under that name has identical hardware, Android version, GNSS support or manufacturer battery settings.

If the identifier is not recognized, that does not mean the device is fake or unsupported. Manufacturers introduce new variants, carriers use customized builds, and Android can expose strings that do not appear in a public catalog. Try a shorter exact model code from Settings rather than a long build fingerprint.

For strange or unknown codes, read why Android can show an unknown model identifier.

Common Android model lookup searches

This tool is intended for questions such as what phone is this model number?, identify Android device by model code, Samsung model number lookup, Android device identifier lookup, and what does this model code mean? The result links to the existing LocationOf phone page rather than generating thousands of almost-identical search-result pages.
