LocOf GPS Tracker is an application for tablets and phones running Android or Symbian, that can publish the current location of the device on Google Maps on the Location Of website.

Individual users use this service to show their location to their family and friends in real-time.

Business users use this service to manage their employees or to provide a track and trace service as bonus feature to their customers.

Track your family & friends. Ask them to install this app and you can track each other in real-time.
Track your employees. Install this app on each employee's phone and watch their whereabouts on the website.
Track your children or spouse. Install the app on their phone and watch their location on this website.

How do I start?
Launch the app on your phone and choose a username and password.

Android Press the start button to start tracking.
Nokia (Symbian) Tracking starts when the application is launched and stops when you exit the application.

Wait until your phone receives the GPS signal (you need clear view of the sky).

Login to this website using the same username and password you have chosen in the previous step. You should see your location on Google Maps now.
How can other people see my location?
If you want someone to see your location, send him a message with the address of your map page. The address is shown in the mobile application.

You can also send the address of your map page to others yourself. br/>
If the others have a Location Of account themselves, you can add each other as "Relation". Go to their map page and press "Add to Relations" in the top-left corner.
All your related devices will be shown on the map at the same time while logged in.
Where can I get LocOf GPS Tracker?
On an Android phone, open Google Play Store and search for LocOf GPS Tracker. LocOf GPS Tracker on Google Play

On a Nokia phone, open your webbrowser and surf to http://www.locationof.com/download/ and click Download.
Can the tracker send the location without an internet connection?
The app will save locations on the device when no internet connection is available.
Saved locations will be sent to the server once a connection to the internet has been made.

Tracking in real-time only works while an internet connection is active.

In the Android app, you can choose what connection types may be used to submit tracks to the server.
This way, the app can be configured to stay off-line while roaming, and submit saved locations over Wi-Fi, or once back in range of your own mobile network. Useful for recording routes abroad, without creating cost for roaming.
I only see the last hour of tracks. How can I see older tracks?
On the map page, select 'Historic Tracks' under 'View' to load old tracks.
How can I add new devices to my map?

  • Select [Add New Device] from the menu on the [Relations] tab on your map page

Professional / Business usage
The Location Of project is not free for professional use.

Pricing varies per continent of origin and amount of devices on the fleet.

To see pricing for your area, see the "Licensing" tab in your account profile.
Can I integrate the map in my own website?
Yes, you can. For more information, go to the 'Embedding' tab on your profile, once logged in to the website.

What data does the application collect from the mobile device?
The data the LocOf GPS Tracker application collects varies per platform as defined below;

LocOf GPS Tracker for Android
  • Clock and timezone
  • Status of internet connection (Connection type; WiFi / Mobile Network)
  • Status of location settings (GPS Enabled / Disabled, Network Positioning Enabled / Disabled)
  • Settings of the LocOf GPS Tracker app
  • Battery level and temperature

    • Geographic coordinates from GPS, altitude, timestamp and estimated accuracy

Android
The LocOf GPS Tracker application is available for phones and tablets with Android 2.3.3 or later.
You can download the application onto the mobile device on Google Play, or you can download the app directly from the website.
Symbian (Nokia)
The LocOf GPS Tracker application is available for Nokia phones with Symbian S60 FP3 or later.
The phone model must support GPS.
You can download the application onto the mobile device directly from the website.
iOS ( iPhone / iPad )
This application is not available for devices running iOS.
Windows Phone
This application is not available for devices running Windows Phone.

Can you trace phones based on IMEI or phone number?
No.
The LocationOf.com project can only follow the location of phones or tablets with active user consent, after, and as long as, the LocOf GPS Tracker application has been installed and properly configured on the device.
The LocationOf.com project can not help you find lost or stolen phones based on IMEI or phone numbers.
I have started the app, but see no location on my map (yet)
Note that your phone or tablet needs a clear view of the sky to use GPS.
The device must be able to receive radio signals from GPS satellites in space.
